It is with a heavy heart that I must report that our wonderful founder and loyal friend, Mary Block, passed away this past Friday, September 13, 2024.  I have attached the information from the funeral home below but just to remind you that Widowed Friends would not exist without Mary Block, Patricia Rom, and Shirley Coster. In 2002 due to their diligence, Widowed Friends became a reality! Pat and Shirley preceded Mary to their heavenly rewards, but Mary was with us for many years - always gracious, energetic, and kind. I often called her the “Energizer Bunny”.  Her boundless enthusiasm and joyfulness formed our wonderful organization and kept it going for over 22 years!  She guided Widowed Friends through the rough years of getting started.  She helped many of us find joy in life as we struggled along our journey without our loved ones. Since its formation in 2002, Widowed Friends has continued to grow in membership, which gave Mary immense pleasure.  We hope to keep Widowed Friends going for many more decades in her honor and want to take this opportunity to welcome all the members who never had the opportunity to know Mary Block.  We sincerely hope you feel comfortable and welcome at our events, seminars, and activities. Hopefully, along the way, you will make new and lasting friendships because that is why Mary, Pat, and Shirley gave it life.
